Autumn at Blenheim Palace
Most of the gardens tell a story, and the Arboretum is no exception. This beautiful spot is where Sir Winston Churchill proposed to Clementine Hozier in the Temple of Diana. The present Duke of Marlborough had two plaques made marking this historic occasion, which were unveiled in 1975 by Lady Churchill.
The Secret Garden, one of Blenheim’s most popular attractions, is a garden for all seasons. Conceived by the 10th Duke, it boasts magnificent mature trees along side new planting, water features, and a twisting stream, it is a perfect spot to relax and unwind.

The Gardens provide breathtaking views of the lake, and its cascade, which places Vanbrugh’s Bridge in harmony with its surroundings. The wonderful curves of the banks around the lake contrast beautifully with the border of majestic sycamores, beautiful maples, strong oaks and elegant chestnuts. The Grand Cascade, the picturesque waterfall facing the valley is a sight to behold. The best views are from the Swiss Bridge as it crosses the river.

The Park was landscaped in the 1760’s by ‘Capability’ Brown, and is hailed as one of his greatest achievements. All 2,100 acres of rolling landscape bring together the features Blenheim Palace has to offer.
Blenheim Palace, Britain’s Greatest Palace.
